Nucleation Capital's Projection of World Electricity Generation, TWh

2000–2024 actuals (fixed) · shaded region = projection driven by your assumptions below

Supply Assumptions — set where 2050 lands

Drag a slider to set a source's 2050 endpoint — earlier years follow automatically (changes phase in gradually from 2024). "Adds to total" grows the pie; "Rebalances mix" squeezes the other sources instead.

Growing a source:
Fine-tune individual years (2030–2045–2050 per cell)
drag to adjust — chart updates live

Click any cell to get a slider for it. Each year has two columns: % edits change the mix and leave the year's total target alone (the source's TWh follows). TWh edits set that source's absolute output — the year's total moves by the difference, every other source keeps its TWh, and all shares recompute (mix stays at 100%). The Total Generation target row scales every source proportionally, which is why it doesn't move the percentages.

Demand Drivers — what changes electricity demand by 2050

Each driver adds (or removes) TWh of final electricity demand by 2050, phasing in from 2024. Hover a row for its basis. All numbers editable.

Reconciliation — demand vs supply

Required generation (demand × grid multiplier) against what your supply assumptions produce. The dashed red line on the chart is demand.

Computed Generation, TWh

Mirrors the Outputs sheet (rows 56–65) — these values feed the chart and the Excel export.

Advanced fission verticals per the original workbook: Micro (1–10 MW), Mini (10–50 MW), SMRs (50–500 MW). IEA NZE 2050 benchmark values from the workbook's "Benchmarks 2050" sheet. Endpoint changes phase in on a linear ramp from 2024 to 2050, preserving the shape of the existing path. Demand-driver defaults from the owner's change-reason table; fuel bases from the workbook 2024 TFC sector-by-fuel matrix. Source: "To simplify .xlsx".
